CPD One and Two Day Courses

                                                 COVID-19 UPDATE

Regrettably, at the current time we have postponed all our training due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whilst many training courses have continued to be run on-line, we have decided to hold back as our courses include elements of integral hands-on activity that relate strongly to our therapeutic structure and engagement.

Please take a look below at the overview of the training we have provided recently for a general understanding of the course outline and syllabus.

We very much look forward to continuing with our training programme as soon as possible.

Please contact training@dandeliontime.org.uk  if you are interested in receiving information about future courses

Children doing pottery in the garden at Dandelion Time, one of the leading Kent children's charities for vulnerable childrenFifteen years of experience delivering the Dandelion Time Methodology in our intensive therapeutic programme has enabled us to develop our CPD training.  We assist teachers, health care professionals and all those who care for children, to engage more effectively with attachment difficulties and trauma.  We explore strategies to support the children to achieve their potential.

Dandelion Time offers CPD Courses on enabling learning for children affected by trauma and poor attachment.  This is a CPD accredited course (CPD Provider 21228).

Enabling Learning with Children Affected by Trauma and Poor Attachment

This two day course offers an in-depth approach to deepening understanding about the impact of poor attachment and trauma,  specifically focusing on a child or children you have worked with.  This course, which is spread over a two week period, allows for an in-depth study of factors which affect children’s education and the ability to learn.  The course is intended for all those working with vulnerable children, for example, teachers, family liaison officers, special educational needs officers and early help workers.

We will explore each attachment and the importance of sensory development, how this enables us to understand our own feelings and interpret other’s feelings so we can effectively communicate with others, and develop our understanding of relationships and the world.  From this basis we will also explore the presentations of children with poor attachments who are also affected by trauma.  We will explore triggers and environmental factors which put children at risk of further harm and develop strategies, which help to keep them feeling safe to learn.

You will be given an opportunity to experience some of the craft activities yourself.

This course has an emphasis on self-care to support those working with vulnerable and traumatised children, it is a 2 day course.

“The course has opened my eyes to the impact of trauma and the long term effect on the wellbeing of children and families. It has empowered me to the change the practice in my own work and see the children and families blossom with our support”
