Vikings rise to the challenge

Dandelion Time team at Dragonboat Race July 2016

As Kent Messenger’s Charity of the Year, we took part in the Dragon Boat Race at Mote Park, with a team of keen supporters.

This is an annual event supporting local charities.  Our great team of vikings met to take part on a beautiful sunny Sunday, to row a Dragon Boat for the first time.  The rowing took place across the 250m course in heats on the usually tranquil waters at the Park.

It was a beautiful day to spend at Mote Park, with amazing results achieved by the 50 teams competing: each boat carries an 11-strong team of rowers.  This year saw even more teams enter than ever.  Along with all the teams and stalls, visitors and supporters, it was a great day with a superb atmosphere.

We won both of our first two heats!  The final result saw us winning the Bronze trophy.  A superb placing for our first time rowers, who have vowed to take on the challenge again next year with the Gold trophy in sight.

You can also support our wonderful team of men and women by sponsoring them here.  Do get in touch if you would like to join the team next year: fundraising@dandeliontime.org.uk
